Title: "Isaiah, Herald of the Messiah"

The prophet, Isaiah, served as God's mouthpiece, starting in 740 BC and continuing for nearly 60 years. Much of his message contained warnings of exile and captivity in foreign countries if the people did not repent. Like other prophets, Isaiah was ignored and God's warnings came to pass. But Isaiah also prophesied that a king by the name of Cyrus, would release God's people and free them to return to their land. Other prophecies concerned the coming of the Messiah, his birth in Bethlehem and his suffering and dying on the cross. Isaiah also speaks about the new heavens and new earth that awaits those who die in faith. No other prophet is quoted more in the New Testament.
